Creative Solution for a Homeowner’s Sewer Problem: A Case Study
Solved a major sewer blockage by installing a cost-saving ejector pump system, helping our client avoid driveway excavation and expensive repairs.
Introduction
When my customer recently purchased their home, they never expected to be dealing with a serious sewer blockage just two months later. After a thorough snaking of the line to get things flowing again, we ran a video inspection to pinpoint the root of the issue.
Challenge
To our surprise, we discovered that about 100 feet of the sewer line had a bad slope. This improper slope was causing slow drainage and backups.
Solution
Given the depth of the sewer line in the street and the challenges in achieving proper slope, digging up the entire driveway and replacing the line wasn’t a feasible or cost-effective option. So, we came up with a creative solution: we installed a sewer ejector pump system where the slope was adequate, then routed a 2-inch pipe through the old sewer line to discharge where a proper slope existed.
Result
This solution not only saved the customer from costly excavation work but also allowed us to complete the project at a reasonable price. By thinking outside the box, we were able to fix the problem without tearing up the driveway, providing the homeowner with a long-term solution they could rely on.
Sometimes, the best fixes don’t always mean starting from scratch; they just require a little creativity!
